Why it exists
The old ecodesign directive was mostly energy-using goods. The Union wanted the same logic for textiles, furniture, iron, steel and chemicals: design out waste before the recycling slogan.

- Digital Product Passports: structured data on composition, repair and end-of-life.
- Bans on destroying unsold consumer goods, starting with textiles and footwear for larger firms.
